For UK, off the top of my head with around 5 minutes of thinking:
![]() yoyotech.co.uk microdirect.co.uk micom.co.uk pcwb.com europc.co.uk misco.co.uk uk.insight.com novatech.co.uk xcase.co.uk tekheads.co.uk specialtech.co.uk consumeit.co.uk internetreadypcs.co.uk fastekcomputers.co.uk idealcomputing.co.uk dacomputers.com thecoolingshop.com zomp.net I've had dealings with the aforementioned at one time or another. There might be one or two at most spelling mistakes therein. But I'm not a permanent UK resident, so maybe there are many more well known I'm missing. Nick mentioned the rest of the best ones.

Re: Website To Go For Computer Parts And Others
After a need arose, these were the other storefronts I was informed to call up, so they would be ideal to search:
http://www.microwarehouse.co.uk/ http://www.pcwb.com/ http://www.oyyy.co.uk/ http://www.it247.com/ http://www.bluebat.com/webstore/Default.aspx# This ones a fairly new place: http://www.mycomputerbitz.co.uk/ I cant include major business an OEM distributors as they won't apply. You can find a lot of good deals on many of them.

Re: Website To Go For Computer Parts And Others
Steer well clear of PC World...I would like to use some choice words to describe them but i'll refrain.
I see Kalim noted another of my faves with X-Case...great deals there for custom building.

Hehe, "fraudsters" is one of them. They will skank you, literally right on your face. You'll find investigations online that show you this quite emphatically.
![]() A little like Geeksquad in US, if you come across anyone giving out a system to them, make VERY sure you clear out any personal information, as these bag of stuitz deep scan your system and harddrive for emails, pictures and videos that they will spread around in pleasure.

Re: Website To Go For Computer Parts And Others
Pc world product are good in their way but the prices go to pc worlds shareholders. I brought my current pc from there. Its a Compaq AMD 64 3500+ it did come with just 1GB Ram out I had to take my computer back as my motherboard went but i kindly took the 1Gb or RAM out.
but iv had some problems but nothing with the computer its self. It came with Vista Home Premium. Here is the Spec from Compaq on it. I only payed £330 which is $659.11.

Re: Website To Go For Computer Parts And Others
Kinda tempted to delete that post Jay...there's nothing against the forum rules at all but there's everything wrong with "PC world product are good in a way"
![]() Kalim was being kind when he mentioned "fraudsters". Every person I know who has bought a PC or any hardware has been completely ripped off and when things go wrong, they have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for them to put it right unless they paid extra to get some kind of cover or ask me to fix it ![]() There's far better than PC World out there...with all the links provided, you can get the best hardware for far less cost and hassles

The obvious one that springs to mind is, where we tested my Queen Bee's computer by sending it through to PC World store in Halifax where the Manager is a known person of mine, as it was still covered under warranty and all we did was to disconnect the HDD IDE cable as the fault. They replaced the RAM (2x 512MB dual channel) as faulty, the monitor cables and the HSF allowing a totaled bill of £170 for us. And yet it still didn't work, how could it if you never attached the cable back on? ![]() They conversed with me point blank - I obviously stayed quiet as though I'm pertinently listening, which is a good method to make yourself look unknowledgeable with people who seem to fail IQ tests. What I was being told dumbed down is, that my PC MB and CPU have blown up. ![]() Really, the Manager was embarrassed to no realms. And let alone the rest of the "lies" and misleading advice to sheep end users. I remember acting like a novice and asking one of their store front "techs" if a quad core is better for SiSoftware Sandra or a dual core Core 2, while they only stocked dual cores back then - his reply was emphatically orientated as though a super dual core will absolutely annihilate a quad core sloth. I had a good chuckle at that one right there and then. To test if I had any computer knowledge, the fella asked me what my top score in Space Invaders was.

Re: Website To Go For Computer Parts And Others
I know PC World is bad, The only reason why i would buy anything from there is if its on a special sale.
I also think that there on site techs are something (a word a cannot say) I brought a product from microdirect and it was a dud. There is always going to be a bad place to buy products from. If i was to rate PC World it would be about a 3 out of 10. But i would rather go somewhere else. I think if it wernt all shareholders that made the profit the prices would go down. |
