Old jazz music 20's and 30's

I have found a treasure trove of old jazz recordings one can listen to and save if you want to. Just thought some of you may be interested. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click bands. There are over sixty bands playing hundreds of old jazz tunes.

Re: Old jazz music 20's and 30's

Wow. This is lovely! Jazz is the musical genre I know least about.
But I started learning via the typically rich and definitive Burns' documentary 4 PBS.....but most of it din stick.

But now I do have 3 vids in my Videos by Gene Krupa....amazing.

Now, I am probably missing sumthin; can we download any of these tracks? If so, how?

Well myself i have the free Audacity so i just click on the one of want to hear and then open Audacity and record it and save as a Mp3. I have a quicklaunch to Audacity and since the music takes a few seconds to start by then i have Audacity open and can thus record and save.

Amazing offer....thanks so much! OK, already did wrong thingy: registered on Audacity site, before downloaded started, they asked me 2 subscribe. Meaning pay them money. respect peole who ws;rite amaizng software and they should B able to make living that way. But I was just ignorant re version. Also in my usual hurry. I now C there is unstable beta version with 3s in it.....and previous free version with 2s in it. I feel I should get the not beta unstable/buggy one with the 2s.

Re: Old jazz music 20's and 30's

Aris. I know Audacity is free and it looks like you found the free one. You may not know but you will have to do the following in order to save anything to MP3. You only do it once however.

How do I download and install the LAME MP3 encoder?
Because of software patents, we cannot distribute MP3 encoding software ourselves. Follow these instructions to use the free LAME encoder to export MP3 files with Audacity.

Windows
Go to the LAME download page.
Click on any link from the list of identical "lame-3.96.1" links.
When you have finished downloading LAME, unzip it and save the file lame_enc.dll anywhere on your computer.
The first time you use the "Export as MP3" command, Audacity will ask you where lame_enc.dll is saved.

Exactly as it sounds. Just download the zipped folder, extract it to a folder called lame in your My Documents so it's easy to find, and then when you use audacity and it asks you, direct it to My Documents\lame\lame_enc.dll.

I'm glad you posted this because I use lame for foobar2000 - a media player - and have had it on here for a good while, so I can never explain how to use it whenever people ask me.

If you've got Real Player installed, as most people have, you can simply right click the title and save it as a .ram file that Real Player can play.
