It is a ridiculous amount of money to 'win' from a divorce especially as she was offered £20 million before it went to court. What on earth possess people to turn that amount of money down to fight for more!! Sheer greed!

However, I do feel that woman definately deserves a decent payout as she helped her husband build his fortune by running the family home and looking after the kids (although probably with the help of nannies and aides etc).

These should be split fairly. I know my mam got a heap load off my dad and she was the one that left!!! My dad was the main income earner for the entire time of being together and even worked whilst my mam looked after us kids.

Its ridiculous what people can get for breaking up. Money like that is almost an incentive to get divorced. Its unbelievable.

Not really Joe as most people do not have that kinda wealth ;)

I think the reason lots of people are breaking up is due to social and economical issues...then there's other factors as well like extra-marital affairs and getting hitched too young etc.

My parents celebrated 26 years earlier this year. I always tease them about going against the grain with the whole marriage thing. Most of the marriages on both sides of my family have lasted until one person died.

I'm still a bit disillusioned, though.

Well what can I say to this..Yes Women can be very very greedy, and self centred, when it comes to a divorce. I say fairs, fair, split it evenly though, I mean the dad still has to pay maintainance etc for his children, so why should they the woman get extra..
I was married twenty-eight years with my first marriage, and all I walked away with a divorce, nothing else..So where really is the fairness in that..
Women take men for a ride when it comes to divorce settlements, and I will stand my ground there, and stick up for the blokes on this part...
But I am very very happy with my second marriage to chauffeur2.....
