w00t!

I sent in to Seagate to have one of my 500 gig SATA 3.0gb/s drives replaced early last week.

Yesterday afternoon, I opened up a box to find, as I expected, a replacement drive, except that it was a 750 gig drive. Apparently they didn't have my model of 500gig in stock, so they sent me the next biggest equivalent drive.

Made my day!

The only way it could be any more badass would be if they were WDs. Of course, you wouldn't need to send in a WD. Moot point?

I sent in a WD just last month, so no, its not a moot point.

I will never, ever buy a WD drive again. I'm just counting down the days till the replacement fails.

Re: w00t!

I'm with DD on this one, it seems to me that WD are becoming worse and worse (worse even than recent Maxtors) - plus they only have a 3-yr warranty instead of the great 5 yrs Seagates have.

Re: w00t!

I don't think you're that lucky because you had to buy the drive, then send it in. In return you got an extra 250 gigs, but you seem to have a bad exp with drives.

Re: w00t!

you're right, I'm unlucky because to get a 750 gig drive I had to buy a hard drive that I was gonna buy anyway and have it be bad right out of the box.

Re: w00t!

The company which provides the warranty on my PC repeatedly sent me hard drives with bad sectors on after my original drive failed, which meant I had to return the bad one and request another one a few times. I got so peeved with it that when they eventually sent me a good one, I kept the last bad one and checked the warranty serial with Maxtor and arranged an RMA with them for it and they replaced it with a new one...so i gained 2 good hard drives for 1 bad one!! It's a little naughty I know but it made up for the repeated inconvenience
