Thanks to YouTube and Pollhost we can settle it now. Watch the clips and vote in the poll at the bottom.

I still think Ronin is hard to beat, although the FC, Mad Max 2 and Bullitt remain among my favourites.

Re: What's the Greatest Car Chase in Movie History?

Well, from the posted car chases in that blog, the Blues Brothers one gets my vote because it is the funniest and I really like the movie.

HOWEVER, the top car chase comes IMO from the movie Le Casse (1971), US title "The Burglars", with Jean-Paul Belmondo and Omar Sharif. It is not only spectacular, shot with no special effects and the crappiest of cars, it is simply INSANE. The whole movie is remembered only because of this car chase (which, by the way, had almost nothing to do with the plot). You can watch the car chase scene here: http://www.searchmyvideo.com/watch/1...burglars-1971/

Well, out of those, I would probably say Ronin, but I've seen better.

Sakis - you were right - that chase was totally insane! However, Ronin is still the best.

Re: What's the Greatest Car Chase in Movie History?

Iain, I agree Ronin is technically great (as are most James Bond car chases, as well); I simply singled out Blues Brothers for being hilarious and The Burglars for being insane. I also agree that, as far as strictly car chasing is concerned, Ronin wins that blog's other contestants hands down. (And, yes, that blog's list is not exhaustive.)

All in all, the Europeans are THE Masters of setting up and filming great car chase scenes.

I voted Ronin but I'm not sure I made the right choice - I've never seen a pile up akin to that in the Blues Brothers, funny stuff.

Good point on James Bond - just shows how much we take them for granted nowadays.

The Blues Brothers would win as the funniest chase...

What about The Vanishing Point. That entire movie was a car chase.

Bullitt, bar-none. It was all real with no special effects. Steve McQueen even did his own driving for it!

best chase seen of all time is probably the Ong Bok scene. Blues Brothers was the funniest though
