Since there is no place to rant (that I know of)

I come here...

In the tech support world I have to really big pet peeves.

1. "Its broke. Fix it"

2. "its broke <insert information on what is broke> and then say oh I can't give it up, I still need it.

Case in point... an employee has a treo phone that isn't active syncing correctly... ok so I run thru a couple of basic t-shooting procedure and find that its a verizon problem (pone wont access the internet either), I tell her I need to call verizon's tech and that I need the phone... she says no that she cannot give up the phone (too important) *** am I here for?

Rant concluded

what are all of your biggest pet peeves in the tech world?

Pet peeves in the tech world ..

1.Its a 5 cent part that's sold for 500$.

2.Its a 5 cent part that's sold for 5 Cents but requires 500$ for special tools to fit and calibrate in system.

3.I know what's wrong but the part is only sold as a sub-assembly.The sub assembly costs more than a NEW unit!

4.Customers think I have NOTHING to do and that I am just sitting around waiting for their call, irrespective of time of day or night. I should then be able to pop around and fix their problems within 5 minutes and charge nothing ..

I could go on .. but most of you will recognise the problems
