Huge python makes a meal of 11 guard dogs

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 (Reuters Life!) - Guard dogs protecting a fruit orchard in Malaysia have met their match -- a 7.1-metre-long (23-ft-long) python that swallowed at least 11 hounds before it was finally discovered by villagers.

"I was shocked to see such a huge python," orchard-keeper Ali Yusof told the New Straits Times in an article published beneath a picture of the captured snake, which was almost long enough to span the width of a tennis court and as thick as a tree trunk.

Villagers did not harm the snake, which was tied to a tree then handed to wildlife officials, the paper said on Friday.

Wow, not seen a 20+ft one in reality but seen and handled smaller. Knowing it can easily swallow me is pretty numbly.

When I was in Sierra Leone a friend was given the skin of a boa that was about 22' long and 16" in diameter - I saw it. The villagers caught it after it ate a year old calf...!!!!!!

Sierra Leone !!

Brings back memories of my visit during the war. They would chop wrists off for the mobile you carry I did actually see quite a many slithery creatures there. One trawling in though the window-less window of the villagers I stayed with for a few nights. Couldn't recognize what it was at night, but it was fast and hastily sliding under the bed covers before it was killed. Around the 7ft mark IIRC.

Still big.
