Ever wonder how much disk space and bandwidth a free image hosting site uses?

I started a free image hosting site in Feb 2006. Since that time, it has collected 4GB of images and you can look below for how much bandwidth is uses each month. And it's only really used by 1 specific message board. It does see use by other message boards/websites, but they account for maybe 10% of the total usage. Now image what those stats would be like if it was really popular like photobucket.

Some other misc stats:

Someone please explain to my why people are still using WebTV or even CP/M.

...geeks.

Wow, that's pretty cool. Who knew that it actually costs to have a free hosting service...

im pretty sure its profitable and like photobucket has is a premium user category wich gives you special tools etc.

EDIT: wow thats some old stuff... WebTV actually i think Microsoft later bundeld with MSN but looking at it that way, imagine how many total users use it in the whole world

Yeah, WebTV is quite old. CP/M is even older. Bill Gates stole CP/M and created the original DOS using it back in the early 80's. I don't think it has been in use for quite some time. The only thing I can think of is someone changed how their computer responds so that it reports to be CP/M. But it's just a guess.

And this particular site makes no money. It's just a simple, "upload and post the link" type of image hosting site. No users, no membership levels, etc. There's some google ads, but so far, they've generated less then $30 since around May. Nor was it really meant to be a huge money maker. The whole purpose of the site was to offer image hosting to people on one particular message board.
