New addition to my family!

Well around roughly 12:30 this after on 11/18/06 my family has just grown. I now have a little fair haired lady in my home. She is very cute, and loves to give kisses. I'm currently thinking of a new name, as she is currently being called Bunny by her adoptive parents. She is only about 10 months old, and is a handful already. Besides giving kisses she likes to nibble on my toes and fingers. Anyway here are some pics the previous owner had on petfinder.org. I'll try and post some after she gets a haircut and a name. I'm trying to keep an Irish style name for her, as this is the first pet I've got to name. BTW, they believe her to be a Schnauzer, West Highland White Terrier Westie Mix. Although they are unsure as she was found a stray.

I've posted a poll of some possible names. I'm thinking of naming her on Thanksgiving. I'm open to other names so if you do not like any feel free to post yours. And before anyone suggests, i'm not naming her TechSupportForum.com :tongue34: :grin34: Its in the format of name, Approx. Pronunciation, meaning

Congratulations, Jason! She looks really great! You must be very happy and proud (and you definitely sound so).

I'll have to give the suggested names some more thought, though, and therefore I plan of voting later.

Unless it comes past my knees it isn't a dog, it's a rat on stilts ROFL
But seriously though they are certainly characters (small dogs), and all small dogs are ankle biters (nippers), but they will give you hours of fun, but as said ^ I can't hardly say any of those let alone know what they mean lol, and the name thats stuck in my head from that is Snowy, but at the end of the day it's what you want that counts, hope you find a good one, and keep her well brushed because their fur is like wire and gets everywhere.

What a sweetie she is. Can't wait to see more pics.
I'll add another 3 irish names into the mix
Gwendolyn - "white brow." Pet form: Gwen.
Rowena - derived from the word meaning "white mane" or "white hair";
Fiona - (FYUN-a or FEE-nuh)(Celt) from the word finn "brillian, white, fair

Yeah, thats what I used to think. But since I'm allergic to 99% of the dogs out there (and all cats thankfully) I can only have certain dog types. Trying to find a standard Schnauzer isn't very easy down here, let alone affording one. So far her hair isn't bad and hasn't effected me. She will be getting a Schnauzer cut though.

One thing I will suggest though, check out if that breed is prone to illness, is she a pedigree ?
Not sure if you have such a thing over there, but I'm guessing you do, consider pet insurance, because when such pets need treatment it can get very expensive very quickly, and waiting until you need it will be to late, another tip is to think ahead, do you intend to let her have any pup's ? because the earlier they get the snip the cheaper, less complicated and quicker the recovery is for them, I intended both my bitches to have pup's, unfortunately they turned out to be a pair of ****'s lmao, so when they got older both had complications involving extensive surgery because of they're age, so you can save a headache and torment by thinking ahead there.

Well she was found a stray, so not much is known. She came from a network of people who shelter dogs until they can be found a home. She has already been fixed, along with all her shots given. As for pet insurance, I know some about it. But I have a sister-n-law who is a vet tech at a local animal hostpital. So I get some discounts on vet stuff. I'm going to have her microchipped, along with my current dog. I think she can get it for me for around $5 per dog.

Careful not to overfeed her, then; and keep her active. She can gain weight more easily.

Being found a stray doesn't mean she's not pedigree, it just means you have no paperwork, it's just that pedigree dogs are expensive when they get problems, but if you have a relation in that line then you have a good starting point, ask them for advice on that subject and you should get really solid info that may save you a bomb, but if shes already fixed thats one less complication to face later, lets hope you get used to soggy slippers lol.

Where's the real list? It looks like Glas hijacked your poll.

And for all you who vote for "Other", don't you think Jason would look awful silly on the street yelling "Here Other, here girl."

Congrats. I'm sure you'll have many years of joy together. Dogs rule...

Ditto, yustr. But regarding the "Other" option, I was sure Jason meant "O'Ther" and thought it's yet another Irish thing...

Congratulations, Jason. She looks like a lovely dog.

I abstain from voting, on the basis that naming is not my strong suit. However, if I was to choose, it would be either Leigan or Colleen.

Despite the (usual) slanderous comments made about me, I went for Fintan. Hope she provides you with lots of fun Jason.
