Your history lesson from far in the future
I found this particularly interesting. (well, not the weird bit at the end, but the rest of it, yes)

No, I don't. But that isn't what I was talking about. The main theory of how the continents formed that I believe, it that everything was one big continent in the beginning. Then, over time the continent split up into other continents which we now have today. Since this happened, this means that the continents we have now are still moving away from where the original supercontinent was. Europe and the Americas would collide and mexico and africa would as well. With the sun being as big as it is, and no changes in its size or temperature, the likelyness of it becoming a white dwarf is HIGHLY unlikely. In conclusion, YTMND failed to make an educated assumption - they just have big imaginations.

The continents themselves don't necessarily have to keep moving they way they are, what's to say they couldn't drift back?

By your logic, the Atlantic Ranges (those volcanoes in the Atlantic) would continue to enlargen the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific would shrink, and California would become part of Japan within something-ty million years.

Thank you. That makes getting my masters degree sound like such a great idea now. (I would end up getting it in 2012)

If you saw nothing, that would be our future. I'm not sure what a big black box means.

Hey Zep, I don't mean to call you out, but Physics does not state that the continents drifted apart and will not go back together. That is biology, and even that doesn't say if the continents will go back together.
This is interesting but I don't agree with it: how would Africa collide with Europe? It would collide with Antarctica. And by that time, 750 million years, if humanity is still here, I doubt it will be in the Milky Way....

Wait a minute... biology says that the continents are drifting? As in, the study of living things? You sure you don't mean geology?
