Man who suffered stab wound helping 65-year-old mugging victim loses home to medical bills. There is a lesson here ?

I still think he did the right thing. That lady had no way of defending herself and now that he pursued them, they might think twice about doing it again. Especially after they stabbed him because I'm pretty sure that wasn't in their original plan. Maybe I'm just digging to see the good in all people, but I think he may have at least made them think twice the next time they wanted to steal a purse.
