"It's a laborer's market right now. My pickers all look at me and say, 'How much are you going to pay?' " he said. "They all have cell phones, and all they have to do is call up the road and see if anybody else is paying a little more."

luckily we don't have that problem up here in good 'ol michigan. My good friend co-owns a fairly large apple orchard with his dad and they have very loyal workers! My friend also provides very good housing and such for them which is more than what they normally will get here.

perhaps tracphone-I have heard they offer relatively decent service and their "minute cards" or whatever (is it sim cards?) are pretty cheap.

They're not looking for work - they're looking for the orchard that pays the best. It's called a free market.

There are jobs everywhere around here. However, if you get deeper into Philly, it's horrible.
