I'm getting tired of "like"

Like, you know what I mean. It's just like, getting out of control. Can't anything be just what it is anymore, instead of like it? I can hardly stand conversing with anyone under 25 years of age anymore because most of them insert "like" all over the place. AAAAHHHH!

Hi PanamaGal,

Like, what exactly are you saying. I mean, I like to use that word. Do you mean like I use the word "like" too much or do you mean that you want me to substitute the word "similar" in place of my favorite "like"? Like, Panama, you need to explain exactly like you want it to be, like in real time. Oh, I want you to know that I am like much more than like twenty-five years of age. Like, that has been many, many moons ago. Have like a great evening Panama.

yes, it can be a royal pain listening to people that talk that way. but short of sending them back to grade school, there isn't much we can do, but point it out each time they do, and then they become so aware of it, they'll never say it again.

like, what are you, like, talking about? i dont know, like, what the problem is with, like, like.

people do that ALL THE FREAKING TIME at my school. teachers hate it, and if people do that when present a speach or something, they take off for every unneeded like

SO am I. The other day in my English class a girl answered a question outloud: every OTHER WORD was like, she even did a triple like! She talked for like 5 minutes and some of my classmates said she said like 23+ TIMES, and THEY QUIT COUNTING AFTER 23!!!! I can guarantee you she said it about 50 times. No one even knew what she said because all she said was like. Even the teacher noticed, although I think I was the only one who caught that. He rarely says like, but after she "talked" he did not say like once, and I could tell, it was some kind of subtle give away, that he was choosing words that were not like.

Heh... valley girls make me LOL. Yes, I too am one who is annoyed by the way "like" has perverted our language. We were making fun of one of my co-workers who happened to spit the word out nearly 7 times in about 2 sentences.

I find it annoying when someone says 'like' all the time. It is usaully chavs, you know the ones who can't type on forums, or instant messenger. It really is annoying, though there are other words which people say too much as well, like (I am using this word where it should be used!) 'do you know what I mean'. After everything they say, 'do you know what I mean'. Or even at the start of the sentance: 'lyk, du u noe wat i men'.

Oh and please, I am 14, and I never say it. So please, still talk to me Just don't talk to the 'lyk, du u noe wat i men'ers.

Actually during conversation I can put up with the youngsters saying "like" after every other word but when they start typing like Joe's example it annoys the heck out of me, sometimes I can't make heads or tails out of it.

So I avoid helping them because of the confusion it creates

JOE! You are 14? That explains A LOT!

But to E, she wasn't a valley girl. We don't have a valley over here

It also irks me when people spit when they talk, or while they are talking the spit is at the front of their mouth and you can see/hear it (it obstructs the proper formation of their words) but it never gets on you.

Okay, we're going to have a wrestling match, right now. Spatcher vs. Joe; front row seats will be 50 bucks a pop, beer will be 3 bucks a pint, and I'll be taking bets out front.

Dude, find out what sort of pint it is first. It might be some cheap rubbish stuff!

The odds are:
10000 to 1. Me being the better of course!

You'd better hope Spatcher is a quadrapeligic, or else those odds are poop

Drinking in the U.S. is a lot cheaper than overseas. When I was in Ireland we were paying 5, even 6 euros per pint- just crazy prices because it was the touristy part of Dublin. Here you can get them for usually 4 USD, sometimes 3 depending on the place and time of day. Of course I've never drank here, but I have in Germany and Ireland.
