I dislike Internet Explorer ALOT!!!
I am trying to build a nice website, but i have just discovered the poor way in which IE6 handles CSS. I mean, the :hover psuedo-class only works on hyperlinks. What is the deal with that? It is amazing to think, that IE has over 90% of the market, when there is a free, and more stable alternative called firefox. not only does it look good and display CSS just right, it has done for ages. Also, firefox has that lovely feature, TABBED BROWSING! Well, what did microsoft do about that, they created IE7, years after firefox(IE 7 isnt even out yet), I have the beta 3, and i think it is aside from being bulky and just a little ugly, it is a near same of firefox. IE7 has tabbed browsing(a bit late), but it just isn't practical to use. A lot of the features are difficult to find and use.
Sorry if i got a bit carried away there . |

I am assuming I am one of the last people still using IE on this board. But to be honest the only reason I have not left is because we use sharepoint and business portal at my work and nothing else can display the active x controls correctly.

I'm only using IE, as well. It never occured to me that I should be looking at other options. (Like 95 said, for some time I was feeling like an alien in this thread with everyone else bashing IE). Regarding IE7 I wanna wait a bit (SP1 perhaps?) till I make my move. Since I now have everything so smoothly set up and functioning with IE6, I'd hate to go back to "needs fix" mode...

I have always stayed away from having anything to do with AOL, and the same has become true for IE except for using it for windows update.
The same is true about bashing them......It is just that I have better things to do....”Like using Firefox”. Last edited by A-Nick4me : 08-18-2006 at 10:58 AM. |

I have both FF and IE7 beta. IE 7 works alot slower for me, pages take longer to load, and the application itself is quite laggy. It might be because it's just a beta, but the tabbed browsing is also very slow on my machine, while Firefox runs fast and clean, never locks up, and loads fast!
FF is fine for my p4 2.4GHz, 512DDR ram, and other slightly outdated parts :) |

hey i wasn't bashing ie, just said i perfer ns8. but it really depends on the platform/os combo as to which browser i use.
mac os x 10.2-10.4 = safari mac os x 10.1 = ie mac os 9-9.2.2 = ie mac os 8-8.6 = netscape win 95-98 = ie win xp = netscape win vista beta = ie7 i have tryed other browsers, but these are the ones that i found worked best for me.

My personal favorite is Opera. I would still be using IE if it had tabs at the time I switched to FF (I went to FF then Opera). There really isn't anything wrong with it IMO.

I went over to Opera when FF started being a pain in the *** for me.
I went over to FF when IE started being a pain in the *** for me. I went over to IE when SBC Browser started being a pain for me. I went over to SBC Browser when I decided Earthlink wasn't fast enough. Sigh... I still like that Earthlink Browser... |
