Lily Allen doesn't rate Madonna...

...She must be quaking in her disco boots.

I thought the little popsicle was quite sweet and that her twee, sugary single 'Smile' was OK if distinctly derivative. However, she has slagged off Madonna saying in an interview:

"Madonna. I haven't got anything against her at all but I don't think anything she's done since the early Eighties has really been, like, 'wow'."

"She might have meant something once but I don't know many people my age who care."

Hmmm... one hit single Lily does not make you anything. I somehow think that in 25 years people will ask 'Who?', when the name Lily Allen is mentioned. They will probably still know of Madonna. Suspect that most people Worldwide will ask 'Who?' even now.

never heard of her either. madonna on the other hand, there are very few of her songs i don't like.

Madoona reinvents herslef too much. She is like a pizza. Whe was hot and freshh once, but you can only doctor it up and reheat it so many times befor it becomes indigestable.

For anyone outside England, Lily Allen is just another young wannabe popstar using a contoversial comment to get some publicity. Her songs are average teen pop, but her dad is a famous actor, so she might last a year or two before moving onto something else.

Don't forget though that the entertainment industry is only partly about talent. It's mostly about generating column inches in the press and filling airtime in between commercial breaks, so controversial comments make stories which generate publicity. Where would people like Madonna or Eminem be now without the controversy early on in their careers?

That's what I hate about it... it should be talent based... this is why I like indie labels and bands that won't sell out just to make a quick buck.
