India : Coke and Pepsi

INDIA’S highest court yesterday demanded that Coca-Cola should reveal its secret formula for the first time in 120 years.
The Supreme Court ordered the US soft drinks maker, along with its rival PepsiCo, to supply details of the chemical composition and ingredients of their products after a study released this week claimed that they contained unacceptable levels of insecticides.

Ok, that is stupid, because other companys will just copy it, and Coca cola will be left with nothing...
There is nothing lik€e a good can of coca cola!
The thing about it containing "unacceptable levels of insecticides" is stupid. People have been drinking it for 120 years, and all is cool!

the thing is though, that other companies have made spin off of coca cola and to be honest i cant tell the difference easily. So it cant be that hard to make. I think they should be made to release the recipe.

There are subtle differences, do a taste test. Some can't stand anything else but one or the other after 20 years of drinking it.

In any case, incesticides? I've been drinking soda since I got into high school, for 4 years, and even if there were any in it, they couldn't have been harmful.

It just seems a bit ott to be that protective of your brand. Coca cola are protected anyway because i bet they have copyrighted the recipe which means no company can use it anyhow.

copyright laws maybe? obviosuly, not for profit use on a small scale wouldnt matter but it would stop companies taking coca colas market share.

Trust me, there is a BIG difference between Coca cola and other copies. Some people can't tell the difference, but I can. I like quality... I only get this with Coca cola...

There is actully quite a difference.
It certainly tastes a LOT different. As I said, I only accept quality when it comes to Coke.

Ok what in the &^@#*&% *^!@%&

I have been drinking Coke and soda since I was like 4 or 5. That is a decade plus one or two; if there was high levels of insecticides I'd be dead by now.

If there really is insecticides in it....... I think I will never drink another soda again and oh how I will miss them.........

i agree spatcher. If there were high levels of whatever in it surely someone who has drunk it would have died surely. so it cant be that bad. Its also bad publicity for the company if they dont release the recipe

A quick test for all of you who've been drinking the beverage in question for years:

Have you ever had insects in your digestive system?

No? Do you see now how effective these added insecticides have been to protect you?

Copyright laws? How would coke be able to tell if other people were using their recipe? I mean, if it was as simple as some sort of test, then coke's recipe would have come out long ago.... I suppose, you could do an investigation, but that's not nearly as cut and dried as "There is coke in this bottle labeled ________ cola"

I'm a pepsi man, myself, but I don't really give a whit which one you drink... I can drink coke if I want to, its not like I have some strange aversion to it.
