Wind turbines
![]() What is your view on them? Do you like them? Or do you think that they are noisy, and a waste of space and distroying the scenery? Today, I saw on the front cover of the Evening Post, that people were complaning that they were distroying the scenery. I don't think that they look that bad. I am for them. Good way to get electicity. They may be a bit noisy, but we need them! |

Well, They are planning to build 250 up here in Shetland, I dont mind we have 5 already and i love to see them. You can also get mini ones that put out about 60 watts for about £200.

I'm for them! I don't care about the noise (hard to get any noisier than it is anyway...) and there's so many cell phone "trees" already blocking the view that it wouldn't do any more harm.

I think they're quite majestic. I saw some huge ones in Germany, and I think they add to the scenery rather than detract from it...
it would be cool to have one on my rooftop along with some solar cells.

Well, I am glad you all agree with me. I didn't understand the Evening post for saying that it was distroying the scenery. And I agree with Fox, they do look pretty cool!

I would rather have a wind turbine then having higher prices for electric or destorying more of the earth burning coal. I would put one in my yard if it was big enough.

You can get mini ones get about 15 on your roof and you can power an extreme PC! Combine a few with some solar panels and you got free electricity for your PC!

I've actually looked into solar panels a bit. I figure here in FL it would work good. The problem is the cost. Maybe when I become a driver I can afford it, but there is no way I can right now.

Yeah they are quite pricey, but here some people have them to power their heating. The local Social Club has a huge probably 1/4 size wind turbine to power their heating.

For a 50W Solar panel (http://www.envirolet.com/50w.html) its $630. for about $450 you can get a tiny wind turbine that puts out 60W. Just enough to power 1 Lightbulb!

LOL! You'd have to be rich to afford them at all. You can get 1/10 th size ones not sure about the price, but they can power about 300-400 Watts so get 3 and you can power Your Computer, Monitor, Printer, And whatever else takes your fancy! The solar panels charge massive batteries that are EXTREMELY heave and ive tried to lift one. Ouch. It would be a good thing to get though.

I've done a bit of research and found out that a Turbine that can produce 1KW costs around £3000 installed with everything you need. Now that would be good, because it can power Everything in the office probably!

Lol. Oh wait, I found £3,000 in my wallet. I'd be more inclined to build the best system on TSF with that money lol.
