Ya know, Hollywood really screwed up on that one. The original book "I Robot" wasn't about robots as evil creatures. I can't remember the exact story, since it was really a collection of short stories, but there was one about a nanny robot who was really kind, and the general theme was "Robots do good things, but Humans reject them." Of course, that kind of movie would never sell.
