Would you like to see a backup forum created?

Hey All!

Would anyone here like to see a backup forum created with an area for programs such as Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost, and other backup programs? It would be nice to have a forum where programs like that can be discussed. It would also be good to teach people how to back up their computers in case something really bad happens that can't be fixed even with our help, such as a hard drive failure.

Just a thought. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Yeah that's a good idea. It's something I've considered but never done. I generally only back up data but could be handy for a whole disk.

Yes. We see a handful of these questions in Hard drives and removable media. I seem to remember the Windows forum getting several questions a week about this also. Sounds like enough to justify it's own section.

I would rather see a Software forum. The one at the very bottom is the archive, and I don't think you can post there.

The majority of the problems I have is with software rather than hardware or a OS.

My vote is maybe because backing up would fall under software.

yes, i don't see disk cloning and imaging as a hardware thing either.

should end up in the software section.

I think that the Software forum ought to be brought back up and expanded. Many of our forums already have areas for specific software, but we could better organize them in their own forums.

i personally am not too worried about how we add a backup forum, i'd just to see one here.

can be a subforum, or a whole forum to itself, or anything, we just need to cover this subject, since "system restore" is kind of really a joke, and people need to be able to find support for their hard disk ghosting needs.

Everytime I see this I keep thinking "Backup Forum? Why would we need to create a backup forum? Aren't there already weekly backups made onto tape for the forum?"

And then I open it up and go "oh"

this is like the 5th time... guess I just thought I'd say something....

Anyway, a software forum sounds like a good idea. Might help with some of those "Where exactly DOES this go, anyway?" problems.
