Graduation is finally here...
In about 48 hours I will have my high school diploma. All the finals have been taken, and all the classes passed. I just have to sit through the big long ceremony that is graduation now... College is all set, going to OSU, and everything is paid for but 200 dollars...
I'm so happy to be out of high school I can barely see straight. You have to put up with so much BS and hoop jumping that it just gets old after 4 years straight. In any case, just thought I'd let you know that I'm one step closer to the real world. ![]() Oh yeah, some of you geeks might like to know that OSU hosts the OSU Open Source Lab, which hosts phpBB, Drupal, Mozilla, Apache, and a couple linux distros... pretty cool.

Hi DD,
Best wishes for you as you enbark on your college career. I hate to tell you (been there and done that), but college is much the same BS, as is grad school, and advanced grad school if you choose to work on a doctorate. Seems like they are all one big game and you are the pawn of so many people. Those who play the game well, do well (I did), and those who don't, just don't make it. You see the world when you get out and start your career. Anyhow, don't want to distract from these joyous times for you, so enjoy as you get ready for the next big challenge of your life. We are happy for you and your accomplishment.

Congratulations DD.
The real world is out there, just don't be in too much of a hurry to find it. Enjoy your college years - just not too much that you forget why you're there. You'll get the opportunity to meet many facinating people. Keep yourself open to them. Explore what interests you. Even if it means slowing down a little. Make wise decisions. You'll be around lots of kids who won't. By the way: All this from a dad who's son graduated in 05. |

You should've come to the UK to attend Uni. You could've spent the next three years paraletic with alcohol abuse - that's what I did! Instead you have to spend your college years creating ingenious ways to get served in bars. Forget about the real world lad, college is separate from the real world, very very separate. So separate in fact that the thought of a job afterwards will feel like a kick in the plums.
So just go ahead and enjoy yourself, not that you'll need telling to. Congratulations and good luck.

For the sake of keeping graduation related topic in the same thread, I'll take the opportunity to say that yes, I'm graduating
. Today is my last day of classes, and we really didn't do anyting at all... It was also the day of the school picnic, and I got to sit in with the band that won the Battle of the Bands, and we were realy really good. I played Purple Haze, and sang it too. Actually I think that was the first time I've sung and played at the same time on stage, and it worked out pretty well. Anyway, I have just two finals tomorrow and graudation is next week sometime. This fall I'm headed to Penn State (http://psu.edu) for their Information Sciences and Technology major. I hope it all works out right; I really turned into a slacker this last year and I hope it doesn't continue into college. Maybe it won't since I'll have a lot more to do there and it won't feel like constant drudgery at the very least.

lol don't count on it. You still have to take general ed requirements which are a yawn but once you start getting into specifics it gets funner. The only fun class for me this past year was English 101 and 102, but it really depends a lot on the teacher. Like I said the general ed stuff isn't hard work per-say, but you just have to set the time to actually do the work.
