I Guess this is a start...
Hi there, I'm not sure if i have come to the right place or not, but I need help with my comp. I've had it about a month now, and it was a mess when I got it. Don't know if its any better/worse than when I got it, but I spose its been helped a little bit. I got it from a friend of mine as a handmedown, who got it as a handmedown and she knew nothing about computers, i would say im a pro in comparison, and im a little green.... (i know bad idea) and well.... It needed help. BAD... There were like way too many programs on it and it was running like ****. I went through and deleted or uninstalled some of the games and stuff that were on it. Its an old system and it cant handle alot of the new stuff that's out there. So, I ran a virus check, and well there were a few trojans and viruses on it. Got rid of those, theres one thats stuck, and I cant do anything with it. I cant run a scan disk, and defrag needs to be done desperatly... but i start up defrag and it tells me i need to run scandisk.... so... if there is anyone who could help me work on this thing a little bit, or who could give me some advice on what to do with this trojan ive got on here it would be greatly greatly appriciated....
Thanks... Oh yeah, i cant even do a windows update.... Last edited by ColdPizza; 12-25-2005 at 02:44 PM. Reason: forgot to put something in |

Hi and Welcome to TSF
![]() Please do the following to make our Analyst's jobs easier: 1. Read MicroBell's 5 Step System 2. Please download HijackThis - this program will helps determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless. Make sure to include the System information at the top of the log as well. 3. Post a Log and and any problems you have in the HijackThis Log Help section.

I have removed your duplicate of your first post from the Hijack This forum. As Grove has stated, please post a hijack This log in the forum indicated. If you have questions read this. Although I'm not convinced that spyware/malware is at fault here, it can't hurt to make sure. Once we're sure the system is clean of such, any missing /corrupted files issues can be addressed.

Ok, well. Thanks, but I might sound like an airhead, but I really don't know what I need to do.... I have no idea how to do this. I mean i can create a file, but I'm only sure how to do it on my desktop or in documents... Creating a file on C: is something I have never done. Atleast knowingly. I think I need someone to talk me through it, so I dont go doiing what I did the first day I had this thing and deleting files...i know I'm making one this time but I don't want to go and make the wrong one... lol
