Howdy !
I'm a Geezer Geek. I've been working on computers since the MS-DOS days. Occasionally even I get stumped for an answer, so I've registered. I'll also offer suggestions to others with problems if I think I might have a solution to a problem.
If anyone actually reads these, might I suggest that PC users start backing up their systems. This has saved my butt EVERY TIME without exception. S*** happens, you know? 1) Spend a little extra money and buy a program that will back up your entire boot partition. This is money well invested! 2) Create a second partition on your hard drive large enough to hold several compressed backups. 3) BACK UP your system - either to your "backup" partition or to rewritable removable media such as CDs, DVDs, or a USB hard drive. When disaster strikes, simply restore your system with the last error-free backup you have. See ya! |

Re: Howdy !
Welcome! I preach triple redundency, nobody listens..lol Its always a
shock to people when there drive crashes. Not a shock to me, it will happen, the question is when. You will like this forum. This forum is not for flamers. Which I like, no body putting someone down, slamming them for there lack of knowledge. For me if I cant say something nice I dont say anything at all. I go back to the win3.01 days, alot has changed for the better to a degree.....

Re: Howdy !
Hi there. Welcome to TSF.
![]() Further to what you said, make your backups on a different disc bevcause if the disc fails you lose all the partitions on that disc including your backup. Like manic I backup to three different targets; clones to two separate discs and important files to DVD.
