Hello From Baghdad

Hello everyone. I am trying to keep in touch with my wife and daughter from Baghdad. So far I have used Windows Live Messenger from computer to computer. That works well with a Plantronics headset. The Phone calling service with Verizon does not work at all. My buddy uses Skype on his laptop and it seems to work great. He is always making calls and getting voice mail. I am looking at the Skype SMC WiFi Phone & FON Router deal for $159.00 and wonder if it is a good deal. I am also wondering if there are small discrete ways of using Skype or VoiP at internet cafes???? Are there small earphone/microphones and USB WiFi setup to talk that anyone knows about?? Thanks for any help.
