In too deep?

Hi. I've joined this forum because after successfully doing a self-install of high speed internet (via cable) I got stopped dead in my tracks because our second computer, we call it "Blue", refuses to connect. Fortunately, Blue still has 56K dial-up. I thought it was time to try a forum for a solution rather than paying Microsoft for assistance. Just between you and me, I'm feeling overwhelmed because I know the problem is more complicated than I imagined. (I didn't imagine I'd have any problems.)

I've been working on our computers, installing or replacing boards and removeable media drives and cases for a while and I quite enjoy it. It's just aggravating when there are three people standing behind me waiting impatiently for me to finish.

I'll be a happy campuer if this forum lives up to half of its reputation.

I would recommend getting a router, you will be more secure, and it is
very simple to configure. Welcome to the jungle.
