Relationship between WU and CPU?

Kind of going over old ground a bit here, but I thought it best to start a new thread.

On my last WU (just finished) my core temps were generally around 50/51C, and whilst that was reckoned to be on the high side, it was not dangerously so. My new WU has, for the last 90 minutes shown temps between 43C and 48C, using CoreTemp. PC Wizard confirms these temps.

I was wondering if each WU requires different effort from the CPU, thus causing such temp variations? Are future WUs likely to show such variations? Naturally, I'm pleased that the temps have dropped a few degrees, as it was my intention to move a couple of the Antec fans to the high setting (all are on medium) at the weekend.

I don't know about WU giving differing stresses on the CPU to give differing temperatures. That said, I am currently investigating CPU temperatures and factors affecting same coupled with heat removal.

Forgive me if this is 'old hat' with you: I don't know if you have considered the possibility of varying room temperatures or something else changing the air flow into/out of the computer?

If the room temperature varies, then there will be a different temperature noticed at the CPU cores. Other factors that could introduce a difference are thermal eddies (like mini whirlwinds) inside the case. These eddies could change and cause cold or hot spots inside the case. factors that could affect the eddies is a change in the airflow into the machine or out. IE a book or something near the inlet and/or exhausts will change things...

Room temps will affect your CPU temp.
Yesterday it was 32c and my CPU was 51-52c.
This morning it's 20c and my CPU is 41c

OK, I understand that, but I can't sit in this room without the central heating on...at least not in February...in Scotland.

I don't think it's anything to be concerned about - the temps are pretty stable - I was just curious if the type of WU required more/less processor effort.

Ive noticed my temps vary depending on which core the WU is running. Amber cores seem to push my temps higher.

I haven't really noticed any temperature changes when running the various core types... Maybe I'm just ignorant.
