Joining the team
I was just reading about all this.. I have heard of it before but now I have to fold...
I just had a daughter born with cri-du-chat..http://www.criduchat.asn.au/criduchat/what.htm So as of now she cannot talk or walk or even roll around.. But she is the best little girl I know.. Never cries and is just happy all the time.. So gonna use all three of my boxes to fold..Got a couple I can run 2 instances of it//

Re: Joining the team
Welcome to team TSF.
Glad you decided to join. Hope everything goes well with your daughter. 3 years ago we had a daughter who was born at home 14 weeks premature and spent 3 months in intensive/special care baby units. It was hard work at the time but to see her now you would never know what she went through. |

Re: Joining the team
I'm really sorry to hear that. With luck she won't develop all the symptoms and can grow up to lead a normal life.

Re: Joining the team
I've read a little about Cri du Chat during my trips through the Internet. From what I've read it looks to be a very managable syndrome and the quality of life of the child should be good!
Folding @ Home and the various programs similar to it are striving to find solutions to things like this. I've got a total of 6 machines, two running the SMP client, constantly churning out data for more results.

Re: Joining the team
Hi Geek73
I echo the sentiments above about you daughter. My wife & I are very closely associated with the 'special needs' community, here in the West Country of the UK. We can empathise with you. I join the others in extending a very warm welcome to you on the Folding team. The membership is now 24 and growing. ![]()

Re: Joining the team
Welcome to team G73.
First, let me say that I hope all works out with your child. 2nd, if you've got dual core systems you would better served to run the SMP client rather than running two instances of the standard client. |

We hope as well. They say she will be able to walk and talk. But not at least until she is 5 or 6.. But she is the happiest kid I have known... But ya I seen this and though I have to do this.. Only 7 hours away from my first.. Would have been sooner but I used Cleanup and did not know it actually cleaned up the log for FAH lol.. Live and learn..
