Re: Current Teams
Hello Chevy, by the way welcome to the team, you will show up on the stats page about 12hrs or so after completing your first WU. Now to check the status... when running as a service, I think the only way is to check your log file FAHlog.txt. I'm not 100% sure, I am running the console client but not as a service, thus I have a collapsible window to check mine.

Re: Current Teams
You have to open up the console again I believe by running the executable "FAH504-Console.exe".

Re: Current Teams
Can you view the console window when running as a service? If not, install FahMon to monitor all F@H running clients. The pic below shows mine running the multi-CPU SMP client, with the GUI and Console clients paused.
When you were setting it up did you enter your name and the team number when requested? 85015

Re: Current Teams
Looks like a good program. I just downloaded it but how do I get it to recognize my currently processing WUs?

Re: Current Teams
Matt, right-click in the white area and click 'Add new client'. Then name it and browse to its location. It will appear in the window when you click OK.
Chevy, as you need to enter the client's program location in FahMon, it might not work with services, unless you know a way to get round it. btw, what's the advantage of running a program as a service? Does it use less resources?

That's how it works with the Linux client, so I'm assuming it's the same with the Windows console client. |

Post Your Folding@Home Rig Details The reason you are only seeing 50% is because you're running the single core client so it only uses one core. To use both you have run the SMP client or two instances of the single core client. The SMP client gives you more points per WU but the deadlines are very short and you need to run your machine pretty much 24/7. You might get awy with 16hrs a day but I don't know if the WUs will complete in time as I run mine 24/7. http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ#ntoc27 |

Re: Current Teams
You're welcome oddball.
If you would like to try the setup I'm running (Linux 64 bit on VMware within Windows XP) follow these steps: Windows XP install: 1) Download VMware Server (current version is 1.04) and Unbuntu 7.10 for 64bit AMD and Intel for desktop. You’ll need to register VMware in order to the CD key. You can request as many as 99 keys, and they will be displayed instantly upon registration. 2) Install VMware using the default settings. 3) Open VMware and click "New Virtual Machine" To open the New VM Wizard and click “Next”.For the OS, click "Linux" and then "Ubuntu 64 bit" from the drop down menu. Read the prompts and set the next three screens to your liking or leave them as is. On the forth screen choose 2 CPUs and then set you available memory to 500MB of RAM. For the “Network Connection” choose either Bridged or NAT, either should work. Create a “New Virtual Drive”, SCSI, and allocate at least 4GB (allocate all space now). Click “Next” and “Finish” Now your Virtual Machine is setup and ready for the OS installation. You can either install by mounting the Ubuntu ISO image or burn the ISO to cd and install from the disk. If using a cd , insert the disk and click “Start Virtual Machine”. The VM will boot to the Ubuntu CD and you can proceed with the installation. To install from the ISO, click “Edit Virtual Machine Settings” and highlight CD-rom. Click, “Use ISO image” then browse to the Ubuntu ISO you downloaded click ok then “Start Virtual Machine” Once you have Ubuntu installed, open the internet browser to verify your connection is working. Then follow the Finstall instructions to complete the installation of the SMP client for Linux. Once everything is up and running, if notice that it slows other apps (which it likely will) open task manager in Windows and go to processes. Find VMware-vmx.exe, right click it, go to priority, and set it to low. (You'll need to do this each time you start windows) Also, in VMware click HOST on the top bar, settings, priority, and set Ungrabbed Input to low. You only have to do this once. After you start folding you actually close VMware and your virtual machine will still be running and folding in the background. (To move mouse control from VM back to Windows hit CTRL+ALT.) That's it, you're running Linux within Windows, whipping out big WUs every couple of days. Just remember to stop folding in Ubuntu and suspend or close your virtual machine before shutting down your real machine, and restart the whole process after turn on your real machine. NOTE: The first part of this post is my unfinished tutorial, all comments and recommendations are welcome.
