Nice folding OB!

The C2Ds own the Gromac Core clients, AMD is king of Tinker and Amber Cores. The SMP client only runs Gromac WUs.

Re: Current Teams

Hmm, interesting article. Maybe my next build I'll put an AMD in it. Thankfully i'm well above any average. Too bad you picked up the pace yourself... You just wont let me catch up, will you.

Re: Current Teams

I wasn't happy with performance of the AM2 4200+ so I picked up a 5600+ from the local Micro Center for $140. Much better performance, but it can't come close to finishing a WU in 19hrs or even 24 for that matter. On protein 2605 (1760 pts) it's hitting 58.5 pph (points per hour) and will finish in 30hrs total. I will OC to 3ghz (6000+ speed) when this WU is complete to see what kind of increase I get.

Re: Current Teams

What do you do with your old processors? such as the AM2 4200+?

I got a 25% pph increase when i OC'd to 3.2ghz from 2.66 with my C2D E6750.

Too bad my other computers can't handle the SMP clients, and are slower than molasses with the console clients.

Re: Current Teams

I keep getting Gromacs Cores and they keep stopping with "Gromacs cannot contiue further". Could that be part of my problem?

Re: Current Teams

@mattlock - Matt, should I really be running the SMP client? The PC is usually on for 9-11 hours a day, but never for 24 hours (that's what happens when the wife works for an electricity generating company...). Do I need to have my system on for 24 hours to run the SMP? (see My System for details...)

Re: Current Teams

Same CPU and motherboard as me... copycat

You don't need the system on 24/7 for SMP client, but the SMP client does have stricter deadlines, although you should be able to meet them eve only running 9-11 hours/day. ('least from my experience, although i know i don't know nearly as much as mattlock)

Re: Current Teams

John, I'm not sure if that would contribute to your problem or not. I have a socket A system also that I had folding issues that would go to black screen when I would try to open the GUI to check my folding status. That was also running an ATI video card. I haven't figured that one out, but haven't put much time into either. That's a project for another day.

Glas, with the performance of the 6750 that oddball is running (around 24-27hrs per WU at stock speed) you should be in good shape. The deadlines have been 4 days on all the SMP WUs I've ran thus far. They prefer to have them done in 3 days but the deadline is 4. At 9hrs per day of run time you should still complete the WU before the deadline.

Oddball, My cast off CPUs are typically put into a lowend internet machine and sold at cost or less to someone less fortunate than myself.

Re: Current Teams

If you find out you arent finishing a WU before the deadline, then just switch to a console client.
