Re: Current Teams

No. I'm running a FX60 and 4400+, both socket 939 with DDR3200 ram. (2GBs in each machine)

I'll have an AM2 4200+ up and running tomorrow or Sunday. I'll be putting a Phenom in the AM2 system when the price is right. I've got about $150 in it at this point.

So I will not be slowing down anytime soon. I welcome the competition though.

Re: Current Teams

I found a processor to upgrade to for my laptop but no one has it in stock!

http://www.compsource.com/ttechnote.asp?part_no=TMDTL62HAX5CT&vid=34&src=F

If for some reason I do find it, will I have to upgrade my bios since I'll be going from a single core to a dual core?

Re: Current Teams

If you have have a socket 754 Turion which I suspect you do you cannot install a socket S1 Turion X2 since they are not pin compatible. Do you have DDR or DDR2 RAM?

Re: Current Teams

OK, that is a socket S1 processor so you are all set for an upgrade.

You will probably want to apply some new thermal paste so pick up some of this:

Re: Current Teams

You might want to update to the latest BIOS from the manufacturer's web site, but the BIOS for any of the ATI X1100 chipsets in theory *should* already have dual core support, although there are no guarantees that any of the BIOSes will support the dual core.

Maybe we should start a new thread for this:

Re: Current Teams

Found it and saved it, but thanks. I knew it was there, just had to look for it. I'm hoping the dual core ver. of CPU and 4gb of ram will help w/folding as well as overall perfomance.

Re: Current Teams

As long as you have the best RAM your motherboard can handle and an 64-bit OS then you should be well set for folding an almost anything else you throw at it. Sounds sweet!
