Java - Storing JMenuItems in an ArrayList
OK heres the situation,
User enter text into a JOptionPane and dynamically creates a new JMenuItem with given text. I want each JMenu option to be added to an ArrayList so that the JMenuBar reads through the list and creates the contents of the Bar from that list. Problem: I have initialized the arrayList and done all the proper imports. The program DOES compile, but whenever i try to add the JMenuItem to the list, I'm getting a NullPointerException. Ideas? Skate <edit>eventually the idea is to write the necessary text to a file and have the program read from there and create the JMenu that way, but as always, Baby step </edit>

hi moralterror & thanks for the reply,
I figured out my problem (for now), in my haste i had defined the arraylist locally in the constructor and forgotten to intialize it. thanks again, Skate |
