Can't seem to get Connector/J to work.
Hi guys. This is just for my own messing about, I don't have any computer science courses this semester because apparently my university doesn't offer above baby-steps unless you ask for a guided-study or independent-study course.
For some reason, I can't get MySQL and Java to talk to each other. I've tried Hibernate and Connect/J with no results. I don't know if it's just my thicko Windows-trained brain (which is UNABLE to get ant to do squat), or if I'm just doing something terribly wrong. I always thought Java had native support for MySQL, but this does not appear to be the case. I thought only Microsoft made common applications more difficult. What I have done so far: Downloaded NetBeans (it's supposed to be easier, but I don't think so) Added more RAM to support NetBeans Downloaded MySQL Created MySQL database (took a thousand hours in itself, and still not done) Downloaded Hibernate Compiled Hibernate (bad build.xml so I removed it) Downloaded JConnect Compiled Connect/J(six times before I got it right, but now it seems to not be). Added required code to Java application (still working on this bit) Any information you want is yours. Yes, I did try looking at the documentation, but I can't figure it out.
