Error with TAR executable

I am using the Tar.exe in one of my applications. This utility is invoked by our application and i got two error messages for 2 different runs and the fisrt error Description is

Faulting application tar.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module tar.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00013db0.

and the second is

The application, X:\Exports\bceps\1000001\tar.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 10/23/2009 @ 11:25:08.086 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 00413DB0 (tar)

This utility is used to create a Tar file, by executing the following command:
X:\Exports\bceps\1000001\tar -pcf DSR.tar DSR_*.gz

Your quick response will be highly appreciated and would be glad enough to know the error, and the cause for the same.

Can anyone help me in knowing the the error, and the cause for the same.
