New to JavaScript...need help

Hello,
I am new to JavaScript (this is for acrobat 9 pro), and am attempting to figure out a way to write a script to combine 2 text fields into one, ie Lname and Fname. Is there anyone who would be willing to tell me how to accomplish this?

Thanks

Re: New to JavaScript...need help

Hey, and welcome to TSF. What is this embedded in?

Does it use the origional DOM?

usually it will just be a reference to both text boxes with their .value... But i'm unsure, so if you could post whatever code you have so far it'd help a load =]

Cheers,
Jamey

Re: New to JavaScript...need help

Sorry for the delay in my reply, had a family emergency to attend to.

All that I am really attempting to do is to get 2 text fields to combine into a single out put. This if for a PDF form designed in Acrobat Pro 9. There is one spot on the form where I need to have the individual entries for Lname and Fname combine to give this output "lname", "fname". To say that I am new is giving me a great deal of credit. I should say that I am attempting to learn on the fly. But this is volunteer work for a good cause. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: New to JavaScript...need help

Hey again, i'm very new to embedding Javascript in PDF files, so you'll have to bear with me (and give me any code you have as of yet, because it would help me understand the platform)... But combining two field values should go something like this:

Code:
(Lname.value + ", " + Fname.value)
Apparently it could also be ".rawValue"...

I'm assuming the Javascript is run from a field (the field which you want the result to show in)...

If none of this is helpful then please post back and i'll attempt to work out how i'd do it myself.

Cheers,
Jamey
