Depends on perspective. From the little I've noticed about Java (not a huge fan of the language) it seems like its user base, influence, etc. are growing slower than some other languages. However, it is still very much in use. Apple has WebObjects (used for iTunes as I recall), Sun has Sun Spots, there's an Ajax framework called ZK, NetBeans and Eclipse are multiplatform IDE's made with Java. The list could go on, but I don't have anywhere near the time for that.
Look into what specific area of Java usage you're interested in to get a better idea.

Hmm, personally i think it's going up(slowly), i've heard of quite a few people recently taking up java as a language(as have i)...
It depends what platform you're developing for and what medium(whether it's to be a console/gui/web application). I think web-based Java has been on the way down for a while. Cheers, Jamey |

thx jamie , shu for the info , i'm totally 99% was sure about that web applications made with jsp is going down -dunno why! maybe coz php/asp are top for now ..- but actually applications made by java are mainly for any platform -coz java is platform independent ofc- ,,,
anyways , i'll try to look for the important areas where i can put my java knowledge in ... thx again for the reply , i was in need for encourage ^^
