A question about JAVA

hi all ,
i have a question about JAVA :
What was LOST and what was GAINED in java with not including the pointers in C++ ?

Nothing was gained; everything was lost.

Gained:
- New programmers cannot commit pointers errors (arithmetic errors or segmentation-fault errors)
- Array notation is easily readable to new programmers
Lost
- The ability to move pointers arbitrarily over the memory to read or modify it

Then, they removed pointers to get a simpler but less powerful language.
