Firewall problem

Ok just resently ive been unable to log in my msn explorer and my MSN messenger.
when i test the connections it says ' You are NOT connect to the .NET messenger service.
When i try to repair..the only problem that seems to be occuring is something with the key ports..it has a triangle box with an exclaimation mark in it..when i try to connect to MSN messenger it says signing to MSN messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailble. please try again later 800b0001
But this has been happening few days now. Anyone have an idea what this could be..much appreciated

You might need to forward some ports if you have a router, although i havent needed to. I would check msn's website to see if ports need to be forwarded. If they do you can usually access your routers settings by typing 192.168.0.1, 192.168.2.1 or something close to that.

what firewall are you using?

did you tell it to grant MSN access inbound and outbound?

These are the ports it uses:
Ports 6891-6900 enable File send,
Port 6901 is for voice communications
Allows Voice, PC to Phone, Messages, and Full File transfer capabilities.
IN TCP 6891 - 6900
IN TCP 1863
IN UDP 1863
IN UDP 5190
IN UDP 6901
IN TCP 6901
