Effect on PC if it is open for a long period of days.

Due to my curiosity, i would like to ask what will be the effects to the computer if it i let it open for 3 days or more? I would like to know the followings effects:

1. related to network security.
2. related to its hardware.
3. related to anti-virus and internet security.
4. Other related issues that i forgot to mentioned.

Please take note that the browser is open with differents sites and tabs open and the computer is connected to the server which is member in a domain.

The computer have installed a sophos antivirus.

network security is the same for the machine if its on for 1 day or 100 days. it matters what traffic your firewall is letting in and out. AV should be better since full computer scans can be scheduled when the machine isn't in use. if tempatures are stable, then hardware should be fine, booting up is actually the worst task for hardware.

it really doesn't matter if you leave your computer on as long as you still are applying updates when you need to, but that does require reboots in windows and some packages in linux.

i always encounter when the end user of the computer return back after 3 days and log-in again in his computer (Windows log-in), he always encouter the followings:

1. cannot log-in (Windows Log-in) and it asking for administrator's permission.
So, he always reboot the PC.
2. if he successfully log-in without asking for administrator's permission, he encounter
problem in browsing the internet. It saying that no page cannot display, which
means no internet connection. But physically, the computer is connected to
internet.

How can i troubleshoot this kind of problem?

I normally reboot my Windows 7 machine about once a week, it suffers no ill-effects. Many times, I have an update or a program installation that requires the reboot, which does the trick for me.
