Wireless Network Filesharing & Security between PC's
Hi
I plan to setup a Workgroup over a Wireless Network using a Brand new Wireless Router so my room mates and I can share files between 3 PC's. My concern is, while my Vista PC is very secure and kept very "clean" - my roommates PC's (bith XP) are possibly not (they browse to all kinds of sites, download free/random software, may open any random email they are sent, etc etc.), and i am concerned the other 2 PC's may be infected with some kinds of viruses or spyware that may transfer problems to my safe Vista machine. All 3 PC's are running PC Tools Free Firewall, as well as Avast or PC Tools Free Anti-virus. But a guess some virus and spyware can evade tests.. If I setup this Workgroup, and the XP users only drag "safe" files into a designated share folder, can the other 2 possibly infected XP PC's still cause security issues for my Vista machine? Can anything else be done to maintain my Vista system's security (besides a firewall and antivirus) in a situation like this? Thanks in advance |
