Re: Recomendations for a Virus Protector and Spyware Protector

I have always used AVG Free and I have experienced no problems with it so far. It is a good defender against viruses and spyware, and it's not as bloated as other antivirus/antispyware programs. Plus it's free.

Hay MightyMouse, I caught your forum thread just now while searching the same question. One thing I noted is you said
Quote:

Ua.. the one thing you don't want to do is run multi(more them one)-spy/ad/ma;-ware programs, you stand a good chance of the programs bumping head & causing quit a conflict on your sys, even locking your sys up.
I would choose one.
belfasteddie I take it by you commend that you are aggreeing with Yogi32, is that right, if yes, then let me ask both of you a question; why do you like it?
1) will it scan and check save downloads before you run them?
2) does it check Em's.?
3) does it update?
4) will it do a full scan on a time table?
5) does it slow the system down like Nortons?
6) will it try to correct or fix a file and if it can't quaritine the file.?
7) got a link to this here AVG?
Please let me know God Bless DC.

For me i think the two best ones are Avg free from grisoft

And then i would have to say for spyware would be spybot search and destroy

And also look for ad-aware

Let me know how it goes?

Re: Recomendations for a Virus Protector and Spyware Protector

Hello Ipodtouched, You know, I was alway think from comment made, that you only needed one of these things to run but after a good TSF friend Dr. Glas in new surgery room explained in this;

http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...do-i-need.html

That you need several, making up a varible of needed protection for your systemm even then buyer beware of what you get. I did a comparision check with several other IT forums and found that the comment make in the Glas Link above is very closely matched in agreement with the others, specially when it comes to the ad-& mal-ware. ==== MightyMouse -- go to the link and read everything it has to say.

Re: Recomendations for a Virus Protector and Spyware Protector

Direct Current, the link you posted was truncated, meaning you copied it from a forum post rather than the URL bar in your browser. Hover your mouse over the link in post #6 and look at the status bar at the bottom of your browser. The ..... dots in the middle of the URL mean it's truncated/shortened. An easy mistake to make, I do it all the time.

This is the correct link: PC Safety and Security--What Do I Need?
