mail server won't load in browser...
Hi,
I have a second email address. I have been unable to access my mail server remotely for the last week to check messages. I use Safari and Explorer and have never had a problem until now - it's always worked perfectly. I now get the following message... Safari could not open the page “http://webmail.look.ca/” because the server is not responding. Similar response on Explorer - I'm stumpted. It actually started working again for a day last week but for the past 4 days....nothing. Can you discover if there is a problem with the server or has a firewall been put up, etc...? If there is a technical problem can you resolve it please (and, if so, how much would it cost)? The mail server is - webmail.look.ca I am in Ireland at the minute but spend a lot of time in Canada - hence the '.ca' Thanks, Patrick |

Re: mail server won't load in browser...
That web address seems to be working at the moment. Servers are taken offline on occasion, for any one of a number of reasons. It could be this server was just offline for an extended period of time.
My two usual checks for these kinds of problems, are "tracert" run from a command prompt, and a browser called "lynx" (*ix/BSD) so I can see the actual web traffic without any "helpful" interpretations. If the server is up, but not serving anything, the raw HTTP headers will tell me. It's possible to do the same thing with "telnet" run from a command prompt, but it's a little more awkward. |
