Ad-Aware 2007 Updating Problem

Has anyone experienced problems with Ad-Aware recently? I have the 2007 version. According to their website they have not been updating 2007 the past couple of weeks due to Version 2008 coming out. When I attempt an update it seems to be telling me that their is an update for the Update Manager. However, if I try to download it my computer starts acting weird (the task manager opens up and doesn't want to close--I have to use the delete key to get it to close) as well as the update function doesn't act right (I don't see the blue bar filling up across the screen), I can't get Ad-Aware to shut down correctly every time (that problem just started with this update). I've tried several times to do this update thing. I've checked for viruses as well as spyware. Nothing seems to be going on. I'm up-to-date on my anti-virus (Norton) and anti-spyware (Spy Sweeper). Until now Ad-Aware always worked great. It is much better than Spy Sweeper. Now I'm not sure what's happening?! Advise please!
