Direct connection internet or via Proxy
May i know what's the difference in terms of security between an internet set-up connected via proxy or direct connection with existing network in place? Which is more safe? Thank you.

Re: Direct connection internet or via Proxy
The only difference in terms of SECURITY would be that there is no direct connection between you and the Internet if you're using a proxy, thus hacks/attacks would aim at the proxy instead of directly targetting your computer. That advantage is negligible if you're already connecting via a router with an integrated NAT firewall which does not allow for direct port attacks.
Connecting via proxy would not make much sense in this kind of environment as long as you can trust your network/router administrator. If you can't, it's not a matter of SECURITY anymore.. we're already talking about Privacy/Anonymity related questions then: http://www.proxy4free.info/faqs/anon...-internet.html |
