OS: Windows XP Home Edition and Ubuntu

netstat shows high amount of connections
my computer and internet are running laggy so i wanted to see what i was connected to so i ran netstat command in cmd and it shows over 100+ connections to all these wierd *** sites and just about all of them are smtp and others are ip address on http ports this is just after i did a ip release renew command. is this like a spyware thing or something?
