OS: Windows Vista Ultimate

Email Scanning problem with Nortons 2008?

Hello,

I run Windows XP at work and Vista at home. Because I work from home 2 days per week, all emails sent to my work email address are automatically forwarded to my home email address. When there is an attachment to an email, I receive it fine at work but it is all gobbledygook when it reaches home. It is particularly noticeable where there is a PDF attachment on the email. What I get at home is no attachment at all, just lots of script with computer symbols and language that I can't understand.

This problem only applies to emails automatically forwarded from work, not to any other emails and has only occurred since we upgraded to Vista at home and Nortons 2008 (which we did at the same time). Nothing has changed at work. We operate Office 2003 and installed Vista over the top of our previous OS so, there were no settings changes etc. I can't find anything in Outlook that seems to solve the problem.

One of our IT techs suggested that it could be a problem with Norton's 2008 and "email scanning".

Does this sound right?

Can I turn it off only for emails forwarded from work? How do I do this?

If I can't turn it off only for work emails, what is the consequence of turning all email scanning off?

If someone could help, that would be great!

Thank you, Kaetrin.
