Anitvirus/spyware/malware advice....PLEASE!!!....
Hiya
![]() I currently have Kaspersky internet security suite.... Some say it's good, some say not.... this mind you is from people who are more computer illiterate than i am... ![]() Don't get me wrong i do know my way around a computer but my computer has had 'nastys' that kaspersky hasn't detected and I have had to remove manually.... And to sound really dumb I don't thin i have any other firewall than the standard windows one....Can anyone recommend a GOOD antivirus/spyware/malware program with firewall that i should have a look at?... and one that has a user friendly interface? I have spent so much money on this computer for 'so called' professionals at a computer shop to tell me that there is nothing wrong with my computer but I cant understand why it runs so slow... CPU maxes out and then everything freezes... and when my son tired to open up his 'emoticons' for messenger there was a virus in it that had not been detected when it was downloaded months before.... Please help?.... Should i post a hijackthis log for someone to look at in the other section? Sorry for the long post..... I'm at my wits end.... Thank's in advance.... x x ![]() |

Zonealarm (firewall), Spybot Search & Destroy (spyware), Adaware (spyware), Avast (antivirus) AVG (antivirus) all have free editions. ZoneAlarm doesn't work with Vista, the others do. I run them all on my XP machine and all except ZoneAlarm on my Vista machine and they all work well. I find Avast will find things AVG misses.

Oh, and the nice thing about Avast is the first thing it will do after install will let you reboot and it will do its search before the OS reloads the next time so it catches things that hide themselves in the OS.

Hi, Kevin from Zone Alarm here. Thank you, spin498, for the recommendation. Essjay, if you are interested in more than our firewall, I’d like to offer you a $20 discount on the Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite which you can get at http://sweeps.zonealarm.com. Just click on the box in the upper right corner. Thanks for considering Zone Alarm and please let me know if you have any questions.
