modem reboot loop when turning off windows firewall
i recently reformatted my primary drive..
and now.. whenever i turn off the windows firewall.. all the lights on my cable modem start flashing in different patterns and my net disconnects... and it wont stop doing that untill i turn the firewall back on.. right now i have norton 2007 on so i rather use that firewall.. but this happened before i even installed norton.. its really starting to agravate me.. for some reason i think i recall this happening in the past at some point but cant remember at all what i might have did to fix it.. I also had my dad (works for the cable company) ask around and talk to some of the tech guys and see if they had any ideas and they told him it might be some DHCP settings.. but i cant figure out where any of those settings would be to begin with i just find it odd lol.. usually ppl have trouble connecting with the firewall on.. and im having the total opposite happen.. really strange (at least to me) that just disabling the windows firewall puts my modem into like a reboot loop.. running: WinXP Pro SP2 Intel P4 1700mhz 1024mb RDRAM dont know if theres any other information that would help ..hoping there is a really simple solution to this hehe... thanks ahead of time for any help :D |
