mystery firewall

it all started a few weeks ago when i loaded google earth, it loaded fine but would not connect to the server. slowly the more programs i install such as the major one, bf2 1.4 patch, icq, etc, wont connect to the net, bf2 server refuses the connection. I have zone alarm, i can turn it off but still something is restricting access to recently loaded programs.
I have a d-link dsl-502T. i have scoured through my pc, searched and searched & am mystified, i'm dyin here.

Sygate, a firewall, was aquired by Symantec (Norton). You may have remnants of it still on your computer conflictng with ZoneAlarm. Check your
Add/Remove section.
