Unknown, Elusive Firewall
Hi all,
I've been having this firewall problem for a while. Each time i update or install a new program to my computer, i can never connect it to the internet. It seems that i have a firewall blocking these programs, but try as i may i can never find what firewall it is. I've searched high and low through my computer as thoroughly as i can, and yet i can't find the culprit. A long while back i used to use ZoneAlarm, but then i uninstalled it because it interfered with my internet line and i couldn't set up a network. I installed it again after setting up a network, but then it turned out to be too much of a hassle and i uninstalled it again (or i think i did). I once had Symantec Norton Antivirus and Utilities, or something of the sort, but it interfered with my work a lot and so i uninstalled it. It had a firewall as well, but i don't think that this program is the problem. Now, each time i try to install a new program or update my old programs, they can't connect to the internet. It's very frustrating since i can't update my Firefox browser, and i can't use any new programs. Anyone have any solutions as to how i could fix this problem, or at least find out what firewall is causing me this problem? Thanks in advance! |

Are you using a router?
Are you using Win default firewall? Did you use the search function to look for anything relating to Norton or ZoneAlarm still on your pc? Did you use their uninstall tools? |
