well, originally, i bought zonealarm pro version, so i downloaded the trial and it told me that i needed to uninstall the free version, and unaware of the bug this causes, I uninstalled and restarted the computer. since then i have never been able to re-install any zonelabs products at all. getting error messages constantly. but thats not the issue anymore :P ok well i tried GeSWall firewall, but all i got was crazy error messages, as though they were trying to find every single little thing wrong with that program, so i reinstalled, same problem. then i moved to agnitum outpost firewall, when i first downloaded it, it came with error messages and whatnot, then i reinstalled and everything was ok :) i just did a scan on 'shields up' website, to check if the firewall was working correctly. every port is 'stealth' except one called 'telnet' i would really love to know if this port is important, or if its not and there is a safe way of shutting it down without causing harm to my system. thankyou in advance, and sorry for the long text :P
sincerely, helen |
