Netgear Wireless Internet Problem

Hi Guys,

Ive bought a wireless router & USB adaptor package. Its by netgear and is the MA814v2 router with MA111v2 adaptor.

Ive downloaded the latest drivers from the netgear site, and installed everything. The computer picks up the signal and says strength is excellent, but no web pages will load, i have no idea what the problem is.

It connects fine, loads up fine, but the internet doesnt work, any ideas on what it may be?

Thanks,
Simon

First off, I'd remove any encryption from both sides if you have it enabled.

What version/patch level of Windows do you use? Does the computer connect properly if you connect it with a CAT5 cable? What kind of computer is this, make/model. For XP-SP2, give this a try:

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log
